WP-o-Matic Stable is coming!
Despite all this time of inactivity, the WP-o-Matic project is more alive than ever!
Here are some screenshots of what will be the next stable version of this useful plugin. As I promised, it comes packed with all the features of competitors’ similar products, and even more.
Please don’t hesitate to send in your comments, and don’t forget to…

Does this version also work on WP 2.2+ …?
We have been very eager to test this out on one of our blogs, but when we tried the first version, it did not seem to work…
Either way, it sounds awesome and wish you the best of luck!
July 25th, 2007 at 9:47 pm
@Nl-LIMITS

Great news but i have one problem with this at the moment. When new blog entries are created, Instead of linking the title to the source, it links it to my blog entry.
Can you tell me how to fix this?

Just curious about SlideList2/FancyMenu2. Any news?
Thanks for your time Guillermo. Keep up the great work!
Jon
July 27th, 2007 at 12:54 pm
@Jon
SlideList2 is completed. I was looking for time to create examples, package it properly, etc, before releasing it.
But since many people have emailed me to find out if it’s possible to add dropdown menus to it, I think I’ll add that feature first.
July 27th, 2007 at 4:04 pm
Great news, I can volunteer to be a beta tester.
i have one question here, is there any auto tool to automatically insert meta keywords and tag on an auto-RSS post?
Thank you.
July 27th, 2007 at 5:48 pm
That’s great news Guillermo! Thanks for the quick reply.
Let me know if you need any help.

August 9th, 2007 at 10:49 am

August 10th, 2007 at 8:10 pm
I currently use your plug-in in one of my “aggregation” blogs — it’s very useful for me (for research purposes).
Many thanks for making this awesome plug-in available!
As for my suggestions:
(1) Some way to make sure every post is unique and that it doesn’t duplicate a previously posted article.
(2) An option to post a “header” and a “footer” to the a given pulled feed. For instance, I’d like to have “This feed comes from [this place]” (perhaps accompanied by a small logo) as a header and “Many thanks to [this provider] for this news article, be sure to visit them [here] for more interesting posts” as a footer — or something along that line.
(3) An easy way to tell readers (a) where the article comes from and (b) where to go (the link) to read the original.
(4) A toolset that makes it as easy to add feeds as it is to remove them (although I think you’ve already covered that).
Again, many thanks for your hard work ; )

August 24th, 2007 at 9:22 am
Hello Guillermo,
& WP-o-Matic will gain an experienced beta tester / contributor!
etc. I just have been there - worked a couple of years ago , when I was younger and still inexperienced, on a (un)ethical
marketing project, proposed to me as a great chance to gain money developing and received almost no-payment in return…
Very site & extremely useful plugin !
I am planning to use it to mirror posts from various blogs me and my friends own (no splogging …). I am still testing the latest version available and it is working fine! However some essential features are missing (like better post content /images handling custom post templates etc.)
Since I am seriously consider to furtherly customize it, and add the features I need,(as I have done with many plugins) It would be very nice if you could send/provide the code / changes you have already implemented to avoid working on the same features! You will gain a … code pal
Be very careful with proposals and be sure to get a fair price in return of your work (and always deliver after payment has been made /verified ) if you decide to go commercial (or create customized / advanced versions) (Un)Fortunately your plugin’s primary audience will be ruthless ( and very … lazy) sploggers / spammers that want , for free ,all the features that would allow them to generate $$ from advertisements , without even writing a single line of code (e.g. to add the source link doesn’t take more than 5 min), and will pay back to you nothing or worst try to scam you!
I don’t want to be miss-understood , I am NOT saying all users of this plugin who are requesting here help / provide feedback , are spammers - gangsters
If you haven’t done already you should also specify the software license (BSD / GNU - GPL, Others ) under which your sources are licensed in the source files.
You can email me the sources / leave a comment with a URL on my site if you are interested!
Thanks and keep up the good work!
August 24th, 2007 at 9:42 am
Sounds great. Keep it real.
I have a small request though.. Would it be possible to add some support for adding movieclips from lets say youtube, metacafe, liveleak etc?..
Take care!
August 26th, 2007 at 1:11 pm
Was really looking forward to playing with the new version this weekend
What happened?
Any chance of getting a copy of the new one? Even if you call it beta?
David
August 26th, 2007 at 1:12 pm
David,
WP-o-Matic RC1 has already been distributed to random betatesters among donators.
August 26th, 2007 at 2:12 pm

August 26th, 2007 at 2:32 pm
@David

@rapidturk
Probably later today, if I get all the feedback I need. I really want to make sure this version works flawlessly on different Wordpress setups.
August 26th, 2007 at 2:44 pm

Don’t give free copy. haha
August 26th, 2007 at 2:46 pm
@Mar
I’ll set it to $500 for you
August 26th, 2007 at 2:51 pm
Hmmm, ok then. Wanted to test it on http://www.hottogs.com. Guess I will just have to wait.
Cheers,
David
August 26th, 2007 at 4:27 pm
Hi Guillermo,
Just find your site. May I pay for the script? I like very much.
Thanks in advance
Ziegler
August 26th, 2007 at 4:32 pm
@Ziegler,
You may donate. However, that won’t speed up the betatesting that’s going on right now
Wait a few more hours and you’ll get it for free.
August 26th, 2007 at 6:43 pm
Any news? Waited a number of hours
lol
Sorry, just a little bored. Been doing quite a bit of wordpress coding on a new jobs board this evening so thought I would come by and see what is going on
August 26th, 2007 at 7:22 pm
@David
Hehe, you have reasons to be impatient. I’ve been reported a small number of bugs I’m fixing (thanks guys)… It should be ready soon
August 27th, 2007 at 12:18 am
You’ve got 40 minutes on the east coast!
I kid - I just can’t wait. You genius you.
August 27th, 2007 at 1:19 pm
Your site has been down for most of today. Everything ok?
Still don’t see any release though
Sniff.
Dave
August 27th, 2007 at 2:32 pm
He’s bailed on us!
August 27th, 2007 at 2:54 pm
Waiting on pins and needles since last night! Can’t wait
August 27th, 2007 at 3:00 pm
Guys, as I remember saying before, some bugs have been encountered that need fix.
Even though minimal, I don’t intend to release this version unless it’s completely bug-free.
By the way… the more you whine, the more I hate you =)
August 27th, 2007 at 3:02 pm
If I donate will you still hate me?
August 27th, 2007 at 3:03 pm
Of course.
August 27th, 2007 at 3:04 pm
Thanks for your work Guillermo!
August 27th, 2007 at 3:10 pm
I for one appreciate the intent on quality.
(does sucking up help?)
August 27th, 2007 at 3:17 pm
It does, well done.
August 27th, 2007 at 11:46 pm
Go Guillermo Go
August 28th, 2007 at 2:19 am
Glad to see the new version fixes the source link problem. Just installed it last and noticed that.. came here to see if it was a known bug.
So, live everyone else… waiting for the release!
updated ETA?
August 28th, 2007 at 4:38 pm
Hi all, 2 feature suggestions;
1- ability to choose how many feeds from a certain source. for example- if you have 10 post limit on home page and have 2 feed sources, one feed might push the second source off the home page if it has more than 10. hope this makes sense
2- Video feeds; ability to add feeds from youtube dailymotion etc with player instead of just text and another option to change video size.
Great plugin guys, keep up the good work.
August 28th, 2007 at 9:57 pm
Any chance of getting an update on SlideList2? I remember you saying something about adding drop down menus…
Opening beta to those who donated is a great idea, i think I’m going to do something similar myself.
August 28th, 2007 at 10:06 pm
I don’t believe all the BS.
August 30th, 2007 at 2:14 am
How about an update? Something?
August 30th, 2007 at 2:39 am

August 30th, 2007 at 9:26 pm
@Anon
Stop the spam please.
August 31st, 2007 at 1:50 am
Ive read through the comments and was just wondering if there is a new time frame to work out the bugs as long as it takes for a stable release is fine, but a guesstimate would be nice, checking the site every few hours is excessive to say the least but are we looking at this weekend, next… ?
August 31st, 2007 at 1:54 am
@Jamison
It’s probably before this weekend. If you don’t want to check the site every few hours use a RSS reader =)
August 31st, 2007 at 6:18 am
Hey people, don’t act like hungry dogs. Give this guy a brake. He is doing it for free. I don’t mind checking site every 10 minutes.
August 31st, 2007 at 6:23 am
Hey Guillermo!
Any news yet? saturday? sunday?
Thanks!
August 31st, 2007 at 7:09 am
Uhh!! Many people hungry with your plugin.. i’m too.. lol.. every day i check your site until now..
August 31st, 2007 at 3:30 pm
Hey-
I’m digging this plugin.
Would it be possible to have the next version check the RSS feed for wordpress categories and if any are found, add the categories to the imported post? This would be a huge help, as i am using wp-o-matic to aggregate a bunch of other WP blogs.
j
September 1st, 2007 at 1:51 am
Is the new one going to have the option to import new posts as drafts?
September 1st, 2007 at 4:47 am
any word on this?
Maybe this weekend?
Thx
September 1st, 2007 at 5:47 am
nice work

it will be a great plugin
September 2nd, 2007 at 12:30 am
> any word on this?

> Maybe this weekend?
He said “soon” back in July.
Then said “WP-o-Matic stable (1.0) is due to be released this weekend” back on Aug 22nd.
Latest word is “It’s probably before this weekend” but who knows.
Did anyone fix the things that were broken with the current release? For instance, the “source” link not being pulled in no matter what. That’s really the only thing I want from he new version.
September 2nd, 2007 at 12:33 am
@Vincent
Sorry, but I do not work for you. And since you’re such a smartass, I hope you don’t find the solution for the source link, which is being pulled and stored in the metadata of each post.
September 2nd, 2007 at 1:08 am
LMFAO @ Guillermo’s response to Vincent. Not to flame, that was just nice.
September 2nd, 2007 at 1:31 am
Guillermo, you rock. Great work man, looking forward to future releases, no matter how long they take.
September 20th, 2007 at 6:20 am
I’m encountering an problem when attempting pull feeds using your plugin. I’ve checked my index and footer as well as the style sheet. It doesn’t appear to be the cause. Randomly the styling of the content area and sidebars disappears showing that of the body.
Anyone else experience this problem?
October 29th, 2007 at 10:16 am
Hey Guillermo. First of all, thanks for this plugin, it’s excellent!
I have a problem with words’ automatic relinking: the destination url doesn’t work because it is written correctly by the plugin.
http://www.mysite.com/wordpress/www.destinationurl.com
instead of
http://www.destinationurl.com
Does anyone know where to change this function?
Thanks a lot
