Update: here it is
Just writing to let you know that the upcoming release candidate of WP-o-Matic is being cooked and betatested!
This is a list of all the exciting changes, which include new features you’ve been requesting and lots of bugfixes
- Categories shown with indentation (parent > children now separated)
- Fixed broken cron command
- SimplePie updated to 1.1
- Fixed broken export on some systems
- Fixed broken redirect when resetting a campaign
- Everything now stored in GMT to avoid time issues. Gotten rid of NOW() functions in favor of WP time functions
- Fixed bug with validation upon deletion of feeds in existing campaigns
- Fixed bug with ‘allow comments’ setting.
- Fixed bug with logs dates
- Fixed bug with double quote escaping (fixes campaign templates / rewrite html bugs)
- Username in options tab changed to a more handy select box.
- Interface now looks better on IE (d’oh)
- New option added to select max number of items to process
- New option added to decide whether the permalink should point to the created blog post or to the source permalink
- New general option to get logs feedback while the campaign is being processed.
As usual, stay tuned. Sorry for not being able to respond and release with more frequency, but I’ve been really busy.

Hi, Guilermo,
Just want to ask you that will you include searchable feed function to your new version? The function adds extreme potential to your software, imagine the users just give the script some searchable feed, like GoogleBlog feed, and some keywords, then the script automatically select articles to post based on the keyword. I know that BlogSolution has this function included in their script and it is powerful.

@Chemcham
That’s been a very requested feature, indeed.
@Kam
Very interesting. Soon, WP-o-Matic will support plugins, and this functionality will be probably implemented through one

When will the update be available? Is there a release date?
February 24th, 2008 at 8:26 am
Hi, Guillemo,
You must know WPMU, I think you can make you script works with WPMU, then it is not only a RSS aggregator for one blog, it is a aggregator for many blogs.
If you add some mass control features then the script would definitely better than BlogSolution, since it ultilizes the power of WP. By doing that, you can make your script commercialized and you can earn somemoney on it… am sure!

Guillemo,
Great news, keep up the good work!

After nearly two weeks since I asked and you replied “next week”… where is it?

Any chance of adding an excerpt tag into the Custom post template? I would love to be able to just show an excerpt (first 500 characters for example) as opposed to showing entire posts……
February 28th, 2008 at 9:46 am
@Scot Phillips
Yeah the same here, will be great to choose how many characters to show per posts or feed, I believe Guillemo can do it .

This is GREAT stuff man.
Appreciate all your hard work.

Guillermo,
Great plug-in. One of the best out there. Definitely coming in handy on a few projects of mine.
I was wondering if you would not mind passing along whatever code fixes the custom template issues?
Thanks!

Guillermo,
Thanks for mentioning you were 17 years old. Now I feel even more old and stupid! I somehow assumed you’d be 50 ish and have been programming since computers were first invented. Jesus - 17!!!
Anyhow, great plugin, and I’m desperate to use it, but it won’t let me add categories. When I click “Quick Add” - I hear a click but nothing happens, it just stays empty!
Any help for an old (ish) and stupid (ish) man most appreciated.
: )

When will it be released?
March 7th, 2008 at 7:05 pm
I’d love something like this with youtube videos and/or images

An interesting idea for wp-o-matic: fetch posts and then delete them after a certain amount of time… would that create trackbacks and perhaps help increase traffic?
March 11th, 2008 at 9:03 am

i can install and run your pluggin in one of my hosting, but NOT in another hosting.

Hi Guillermo,
Thanks for your plugin, but Im having a weird problme.
As you can see in this page: http://www.crcinema.com/category/coming-soon/
the articles are duplicated more than 5 times, even 20!
How can I avoid this problem? Any suggestion?
Many thanks
March 20th, 2008 at 1:54 am
hi, I would like to try your RC version, because after 20 posts or so it times out without registering what had been posted, so if I run it again it just makes the same 20 or so posts again instead of continuing….
will your only process X number of items all me to run it again to continue down the list for the next X number of items? If so that would make this plugin perfect.

March 27th, 2008 at 9:25 am
Please, WHEN WHEN WHEN ??????????
March 30th, 2008 at 8:32 am
Hello,
I am really impressed to your great plugin here. Anyways, it seems WP-o-Matic tend to post the same contents many times from the feed by Feedburner.
Waiting to hearing your support.
Thx

The release isn’t 1.0RC3, BUT 1.0RC5… so stop moaning.
April 3rd, 2008 at 2:56 am
this plugin is fantastic. I can finally auto-post my flickr images each day. The only thing it needs is a way to be able to select how many items to post each day.

I am waiting for it. I have a problem with current version. :
I am very upset cause i can’t rewrite it. The owner of rss feed writes it’s name to title but i can’t remove it.
It can rewrite the text but not able to rewrite the TITLE
I hope that in next version we can see an option to rewrite the titles.
Also if there is an option for randomize category it would be great. I am also using the wp-omatic to make autopilot blogs. But it posts to certain categories. I have to change it manuelly. I make this every week. But if there was an option for “randomize the category between selected ones” it would be very very great
I am big fan of wp-o-matic. And waiting for the new version. Long live Wp-O-Matic!
Regards

I just need help documentation. Seems the help links provided yield 404 errors. I can normally figure things out with a little direction. But, while I am typing to you… can you explain the frequency option. I am assuming for values 0d1h0m means the script will run every hour on the hour. The value 1d0h0m mean the script will run every day, once a day. Does this logic validate? Excellent plugin, by the way.

Yes, good to hear! I’ll looking forward to RC3!
April 15th, 2008 at 4:52 pm
Very nice
April 16th, 2008 at 1:28 am
Sounds awesome! Just wondering about the SimplePie integration…are you bundling your own copy of SimplePie? It seems multiple installations of SimplePie can conflict with one another, so I installed the SimplePie Core plugin:
http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/simplepie-core/
I’m using SimplePie for another part of my site - would be most excellent if this didn’t conflict with the Core plugin. Besides, it’s a waste of resources to be using multiple feed engines, I suppose.
If it conflicts, any suggestions as to an alternative to this plugin? I think the idea is pretty awesome, and I definitely have a use for it…waiting with bated breath.

Any updates on when RC3 is going to be released?
Thanks, and nice job!
April 19th, 2008 at 11:43 am
After the release of 2.5, WP-o-Matic has to keep up and undergo some more changes. So please be patient!
April 21st, 2008 at 2:50 am
Still no news about a WP 2.5 Version? I would be very happy to see this and i’m willing to pay for it if that helps.
April 22nd, 2008 at 9:21 pm
I’m waiting for this
Thank You
April 28th, 2008 at 8:50 am
Nice plugin! Looking forward to the new release! Keep up the good work!
May 3rd, 2008 at 1:38 pm
PLEASE make your current beta available. This is URGENT.
May 31st, 2008 at 10:20 am
My install of WP-o-Matic keeps posting the same articles over and over again. One week I wasn’t paying attention I had 90,000 duplicate posts. What’s up with that?
